Persuasive Message Assignment

Objective: Create a mailer/ flier/ promotional piece for any University. The propaganda aims to encourage high school juniors and seniors to apply to the University.

Format: The format of this assignment is arbitrary, meaning that it is up to you to design it. You control the visuals, the layout, the format, and the copy (text). Think about who your audience is and how this will be read.

Grading: Your piece will be evaluated on how well it applies the AIDA format to a limited space. Make sure that the work is balanced, that it is not too heavily visual or overly wordy. Ultimately, you must look at your final product with a discriminating eye to make sure that it is aesthetically pleasing and informative. Your advertisement MUST include both text and visuals. If you do not include both, then you will not get credit for the assignment.

Remember: You must get the students to act. This means not only that you must employ tactics discussed in class, but also that you tell the reader what you want him/her to do.
