Parallel Conversion

For this assignment, you will…

1. The transition from the OLD business process or system to the NEW business process or system will be facilitated by ensuring that all issues are addressed.
2. In order to orchestrate this migration, you must first develop a Conversion Plan.
3. See Figure 13-4 for the Characteristics of Conversion Strategies.
4. There are three (3) factors to consider in your Conversion Strategy – Risk, Cost and Time.
5. There are three (3) elements of a Conversion Strategy – Style, Location, and Modules.
6. For Style, you can do a Direct Conversion vs. Parallel Conversion.
7. For Location, you can do a Pilot Conversion vs. Phased Conversion vs. Simultaneous Conversion.
8. For Modules, you can do a Whole-System Conversion vs. Modular Conversion.
9. You decide!
10. In the table, enter which Conversion Style (Direct or Parallel), enter which Conversion Location (Pilot, Phased or Simultaneous), and enter which Conversion Modules (Whole-System or Modular) that you would like to utilize for your project.
11. Once done, type the selected item in the box and then EXPLAIN in 2-5 sentences WHAT the Risk, Cost, and Time are that are associated with your project.
12. For example assuming you select the following,you will type the Risk associated with the Direct Conversion Style AND the Risk associated with the Pilot Conversion Location AND the Risk associated with the Whole-System Module.you will type the Cost associated with the Direct Conversion Style….you will type the Time associated with the Direct Conversion Style…
13. Read what is included in the Conversion Plan starting on page 474.
14. Build upon your Systems Analysis Project Topic from the LIST provided in the course. You will build upon this project for the entire semester. A max of 3 students may choose the SAME topic on a first-come, first-serve basis.
15. Your responses must be typed directly into the Systems Analysis Project TEMPLATE under the appropriate section heading. Failure to use the TEMPLATE will result in an Automatic Grade on 0 on each assignment submitted.
