Prompt: According to Chapter 8 of American Government, briefly discuss the evolution of major media formats in Chapter 8 (print, radio, television, new media). Have changes in media formats created a more accurate, less biased media? Why or why not? Explain your answer.

Prompt: According to Chapter 9 of American Government, what is party polarization? Explain three causes of polarization. In your own life (watching or reading the news, talking with friends/family, etc.), do you see polarization increasing or decreasing? Explain and use examples to demonstrate your point.

For students who feel that they cannot apply any of the agents to their own lives: If you do not have any strong political views and do not identify with a party, you can still answer this prompt. Explain which of the agents account for your political apathy (apathy here is not meant in a negative sense – it simply means that some people did not have political agents that influenced their views on politics and government).

Explain how Jo Ann Emerson is representative of the lobbying revolving door. Why do you think Congress has not enacted nationwide laws to stop congresspersons from going through the lobbying revolving door? Do you think anything can be done to stop the revolving door? Why or why not? Explain.
