Question

The work of Thomas Kuhn, as expressed in the Kuhn Cycle, describes a system of punctuated equilibrium in which paradigms are created that overtake old ways of understanding. In particular, “a paradigm shift can only be achieved by a scientific revolution and a paradigm shift is accomplished by political, social, and cultural processes rather than by objective assessment of the evidence” (Steward, Harte, Sambrook, 2011, p. 226).

Describe the Kuhn Cycle, and then evaluate an example of a scientific revolution that led to a new paradigm that better explained phenomena than the prior paradigmatic explanation did. Can the Kuhn Cycle concept be used to explain changes in management thought as well?
