SELF-ASSESSMENT AND CULTURAL COMPETENCE

The social work profession values self-awareness and reflection. Krogsrud Miley, O’Melia, and DuBois (2017) stated, “Truly to know others, you must first know yourself” (p. 62).

1. Complete the cultural self-inventory (p. 62 of your course text) and reflect upon your findings.
2. Provide a summary of your reflection for the following four areas:
   • Personal identify.
   • Spiritual beliefs.
   • Knowledge of others.
   • Cross-cultural skills.
3. Identity an area of growth in relation to cultural competence and provide at least one goal of how you will meet this needed area of growth.
