Internship in Health Organizations

The purpose of your Final Report is to discuss and analyze how the Learning Objectives of the internship were achieved. Your Final Report also provides an opportunity to make connections and reflect on the relationship between your experiences outside of class in your internship and the knowledge or skills you gained throughout the HSA program. The report should be 10-pages in length, double spaced and address the following: 

1. REPORT ON ACTIVITIES.  Describe how the Learning Objectives of the internship were achieved.

Questions to reflect on and answer may include: Restate your learning objectives; what project(s) or tasks/activities did you complete to achieve them? What important issue(s) were addressed? What events occurred? Feel free to include select examples of your work in your report.

• CONNECTIONS TO EXPERIENCE.  Analyze how academic knowledge from the HSA program relates to the internship.

Questions to reflect on and answer may include: What did you learn? How did the internship relate to specific topic(s) or content covered in HSA classes? What particular skills from the program did you apply or expand upon in your internship? How was your experience different from what you expected?

• SELF REFLECTION.  Discuss broader implications of the internship.

Questions to reflect on and answer may include: How can you apply the learning that occurred for you in this experience to your personal or professional life? How will you think or act in the future as a result of this experience? How will this experience affect your future as a health care administrator? What would you like to learn more about related to this experience? Do you have any recommendations for your placement site that would improve the experience?
