This week we learned about quite a few things, but I’d like you to take the discussion further and find, cite, and briefly summarize a research study that suggests how we might influence (diet, lifestyle, exercise, stress management, supplement) something to do with PCG-1a, AMPK, etc. In other words, if PCG-1a is the “master regulator” of mitochondrial biogenesis, how might we stimulate this molecule in someone. This could even be theoretical, but not necessarily studied yet. For example, maybe you find something that stimulates AMPK, but hasn’t been studied to increase mitogenesis, but further studies might be needed. I also mentioned sirtuins, and there are quite a few more pathways. So have fun with it and find a practical, evidence-based way you could stimulate mitochondrial biogenesis in a patient/client.
