Approach to Innovation

Question 1

Read pages 67 and 68 in your textbook about 3-M and their approach to innovation.

Research one of 3M’s innovations.

Write a two page paper in which you respond to the following questions:

• How did the creative thinking process work in the development of this product? Describe what took place in each of the four steps.
• Analyze what type of innovation this was—invention, extension, duplication, or synthesis. What characteristics of the innovation have led you to this conclusion?
• Explain which of the sources of innovative ideas discussed in this week’s reading help account for this product’s success and why?

Include a minimum of two sources, which may consist of readings from the University Library, your text, or other selections.

Skills needed by successful entrepreneurs 

1)Individually write a 250 word paragraph stating what makes a good entrepreneur. (3 sources of independent evidence and research must be included… websites, journals, articles, books).

•Communication skills (possessing the ability to read, write and speaking in an understandable, accurate and professional manner)

•Human relations skills (the ability to build and maintain positive relationships, working well with others)

•Math skills (knowledge of basic arithmetic and business math skills such as calculating profit)
