Experiment #5: Alcohols, Phenols Physical and chemical properties of alcohols, phenols and thiols will be observed. Alcohols can generally be distinguished from phenols. Primary and secondary alcohols can be distinguished from tertiary alcohols. Solubility will be the physical property observed. Complex formation with a metal ion and oxidation will be the chemical properties observed.
