Research has shown that children as young as three are receptive to the attitudes of those around them and can exhibit racist or social bias. Discuss how picture-books can be used in the Early Years setting to combat prejudice and deficit thinking and to encourage the development of empathy and socially just attitudes in young children.

You should refer to three picture-books on the course. It should be informed by picture-book theory and social justice theory. The three books you must refer to are; Yard Sale by Eve Bunting, Still a Family by Brenda Reeves Sturgis, and Fly Away Home by Eve Bunting, At least five references are required
